Electrical Muscle Stimulation (Electrotherapy)
Electrical Muscle Stimulation: Dr. Charles Oliver provides electrical muscle stimulation to patients in San Antonia Texas and the surrounding areas. Electric muscle stimulation is a physical rehabilitation therapy modality that is used to stimulate muscle contractions using electrodes hooked up to an electric stimulation machine at our facility. These contractions help to control pain, manage inflammation and strengthen the muscle.
The electrodes are placed on the effected areas of the patient’s body, typically around the neck, back, shoulder, knee, ankle or wrist. The therapist will then adjust the controls of the machine until the patient feels a prickly sensation and is able to comfortably target the level of stim without burning, stinging or feeling a stabbing sensation. The stimulation will increase circulation and reduce swelling thereby reducing pain sensations.

I can’t say enough about Dr Oliver and his staff. I was suffering from chronic low back pain and right hip pain when I first saw Dr. Oliver back in August. I could hardly move around or walk without terrible pain. After taking x-rays of the back and going over them with me, he came up with a multi-week treatment plan to help alleviate my discomfort and give me some relief. All I can say is, his treatment plan has worked wonders with my back and right hip. Within a few weeks, my pain level was way down and I was able to move around in ways that I had not done in months. I was able to walk more and do more around my home. I could get out and enjoy life again, something I had not enjoyed in quite some time. Now, several months after I started seeing him, I am still able to move more and enjoy minimum pain in my lower back and hip. Kudos to Dr. Oliver for all he has done to help give me some relief. I would also like to thank his staff. They are all so wonderful and caring. They treat me like family and make me feel welcome every time I walk in the door. I originally visited Integrative Medical for issues I was having with my back. After 3 sessions I felt the staff was just throwing me on a massage bed and had me do silly excericises similar to what I did in elementary school for stretches. I had explained my issues to a friend and she recommended me to try out Dr. Oliver. From the minute I walked in Dr. Oliver’s Office, I felt the staff seemed more professional. Dr. Oliver had up to date X-ray equipment that was more detailed oriented. He explained and showed more details to what was my problem with my back than what I got from Integrative Medical. Dr. Oliver would pop my neck and back into place, had me do more challenging excersises that actually strengthened my back, and had more state of the art equipment to treat people with. Needless to say, I left Integrative Medical to continue and complete my 30 sessions with Dr. Oliver. I felt more welcomed as well as more confident in what I was getting from Dr. Oliver than Integrative Medical. I would reccommend Dr. Oliver to any of my personal friends and family.

First visit for cronic, acute back pain. Dr. Oliver was able to determine the root cause of the pain which, I must say, other doctors I’ve seen hadn’t even attempted to find.
I have spondylolesthesis (a forward shifting of a vertebrae) which allows diminished mobility and flexibility because of the level of constant pain. Yes, the shift caused discs to rupture and touch a nerve. The nerve (being only the transmitting link to the brain for feeling) however, goes to something else telling the nerve what to feel.
That “something else” is the CAUSE of the pain. In my case, it is a specific muscle attached to the spine.

Thank You so much to Dr. Charlie Oliver & staff for getting me walking again. I appreciated the one on one time with Dr. Oliver to develop a plan specifically formulated to help my specific needs. I literally hobbled into his office two days ago in excruciating pain that I felt was going to affect my ability to continue to work as a massage therapist. After he took some X-rays and did an extensive physical evaluation and evaluated my X-rays he sat down and spoke candidly with me and devised a plan for me to get me back on track and on the road to recovery without surgery. He took me aside and provided me with a treatment that very same day because he couldn’t bear to see me hobble out of his door. He wasn’t looking for a way to mask my pain but, to find the source of my pain and correct it.

This place is wonderful! The staff are just amazing! They greet me by name every time I come in, and you can tell that they enjoy their jobs aren’t just there for a paycheck. They are very helpful and patient, and they genuinely smile when they work with you. Also, the place is really clean and welcoming. Dr. Oliver is great as well! He’s very knowledgeable and personable. He has a great bedside manner and worked with me to customize a treatment plan that was tailored to me and my issues. All in all, this is a great place, and I highly recommend them!

I have been at Comprehensive Chiropractic for about 1 month. It has been a great experience. Dr. Oliver is wonderful and very thorough in assessing the problem, developing a treatment plan and executing the plan. He evaluates and re-evaluates to make sure each patient is progressing and pain is going away. The staff is kind and courteous and go above and beyond to make very visit smooth and productive.
